Women Over Forty by Andy Rooney

Andy Rooney says:
As I grow in age, I value women who are over forty most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over forty will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, “What are you thinking?” She doesn’t care what you think.
If a woman over forty doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it’s usually something more interesting.
A woman over forty knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of forty give a hoot what you might think about her or what she’s doing.
Women over forty are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.
Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it’s like to be unappreciated.
A woman over forty has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn’t trust the guy with other women. Women over forty couldn’t care less if you’re attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won’t betray her.
Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over forty. They always know.
A woman over forty looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over forty is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
Older women are forthright and honest. They’ll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one! You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over forty for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of forty-plus, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some twenty-two-year-old waitress.
Ladies, I apologize.
For all those men who say, “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free,” here’s an update for you. Now 80 percent of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.

A Fresh Start

last week,
we almost missed a tax deadline for our businesses (my stupid fault)
and then fixing it was a complete nightmare (thanks to our cpa it wasn't worse)
which brought on melt down #1 for me this week
and the kids all have fears that they are facing
which kept me up worrying at night.
and my Dad waiting too long after having a vision loss and I feel bad that I wasn't available
to take him to the hospital until Saturday...
among other sad and annoying things which took place
that Im aware I shouldn't complain about
because i know people have bigger problems in the world.
but honestly, it was just a rough week.
so i couldn't wait to crawl into my bed and go to sleep last night
knowing that morning brought monday, and i would get a "do over."

so, I can't believe i'm saying this, but I'm so glad it's monday.
and a new week. a fresh start.
so very happy about this.

happy happy monday!

Project 365 take 2 is about to begin!

Ready, Set, GO!! Project 365 take 2 is about to begin!
I tried this last year but didn't make it very far so I am going to give it another go.

The idea behind project 365 is to take a photo every day. There are no rules on what you take it of, just something that is part of your day.

Here are a few tips on project 365 that I found here.

Bring Your Camera Everywhere
Yes, everywhere. Get in the habit. Grocery stores, restaurants, parties, work, and school. Going to a movie theatre? Snap a pic of the flick with your phone–there are photo-ops everywhere. If you have one of those tiny tiny cameras, you have no excuse not to have it in your pocket all the time. And if you don’t? Camera phones are a great substitute.

Make Posting Easy
You can install blog software like Movable Type or Wordpress on your own site and create an entry for each photo, but for true ease of use, try a photo sharing site. Flickr will let you post a week’s worth of photos in 2 minutes flat, and fotolog and Photoblog.com are geared toward a photo-a-day workflow. Making it fast and easy means you’re much more likely to do it.

Vary Your Themes
Try to capture the day’s events in a single photo. Perform photographic experiments. Take a photo of someone new you meet, something you ate for the first time, or something you just learned how to do. Take a photo of something that made you smile. And don’t forget to take a photo of yourself at least once a month so you can remember how you’ve changed, too.

Tell a Story
Use your blog entry, or your photo description, to explain what’s going on in each day’s photograph. How good did that dinner taste? What made you want to take a photo of that stranger? It’ll help you remember down the road, and it gives friends following along a better appreciation of why you took the photo you did. You don’t need to write a lot, just enough to add some color.

Don’t Stop, No Matter What
This is perhaps the most important tip of all. You will get tired of taking a photo every single day. Some days, you will consider giving up. Don’t. The end result is worth the effort. Remind yourself why you wanted to do it in first place.
There will be times you’ll think there’s nothing interesting left to take a photo of, and times you’ll think you didn’t do anything exciting enough to take a photo of. There’s always a great photo to be made.

Get out of the house and take a walk. Or stay inside and look around. Take a photo of something important to you. Take a photo of the inside of your house so you can see how your taste has changed over the years. Take a photo of anything, just don’t stop.

N.b. It helps if you’ve told your friends about the project and asked them to follow along. Their encouragement will keep you going!

Post early, post often
Plan on going through and posting your photos at least once a week so you don’t get backlogged and feel overwhelmed. Ideally, post every day or two. Again, spend the time up front to make sure it’s quick and easy to post. It’ll make all the difference.

And with the start of project 365, I will be reviving my blog which has severely been neglected since I haven't posted since March 2008-Yikes!

Cross your fingers that I will be able to get further this year than last year on this! Now off I go to make sure I have fresh batteries in my camera! Won't you join me?

10 Things I Can’t Do Anymore

Play School with my little brothers and dolls.

Sit on the floor cutting cutting out clothes patterns from beautiful fabrics (I'm just not that limber anymore...lol)

Sew with my Mom.

Carry my books home from school.

Go shopping on Saturdays with my high school friends Renee and Cathy.

Remember what I ate for lunch yesterday.

Wear high heels.

Sleep late at my leisure on the weekends.

Talk to my grandmother while eating good home cooking in her kitchen.

Go home and visit all day on Sunday.

I’m glad I made this little list. It brought back a few good memories. I think I need to scrapbook them because there are some fairly interesting stories in this list. Maybe, someday, I’ll tell you one or two.
See ya, Me

I should have never ...

I should have never let someone make me feel less important than they are.

I should have never promised to do something I was too busy to do because I was afraid to hurt the requestor’s feelings.

I should have never worn new sandals on the first day of my vacation.

I should have never believed that women can’t be successful in business.

I should have never allowed anyone to make me feel that my advocacy for my children was worthless and not meaningful.

I should have never pushed the garage door opener closed before I was completely in the garage.

I should have never let someone make me feel less important than they are.

I should have never been afraid to admit I was wrong.

I should have never stayed up all night working when I had an appointment the next morning.

I should have never responded quickly to an email that made me feel bad.

I should have never purchased the shirt that felt a little snug because I believed I would be thinner shortly.

I should have never promised to do something I was too busy to do because I was afraid to hurt the requestor’s feelings.

I should have never written this list...

P.S. I just said that bit about not writing this list because it rounded things up nicely. I actually think it is good to reflect on your life occasionally. One reason to study history is to attempt to not repeat past mistakes.

Handsome Boy!

I just love this new digital kit, Bunny Trail from Sweet Shoppe Designs. I can't belive that Logan has grown up so much since this photo was taken. I am struggling with pre-empty nest syndrom as time races forward and he will soon be on his own.
We had a busy weekend. We went to eat at Furr's later in the evening last night and drove by the storage buildings at Lowe's on the way home. They were closing but the salesman outside came up to us and offered Paul 10% off and free delivery! Couldn't pass that up-SOLD! They even had it to our house (unassembled of course) by noon today. Finally, we can get some of our outdoor stuff (lawnmowers, ladders, storage stuff for our buisnesses, etc.) out of the garage. I even went through half of my closet today and got rid of everything that I didn't like anymore (which was half of what I looked at). It's only the 2nd day of March and already we have Tornado watches. It is going to be a roller coaster spring!

Everytime you smile

This is a scraplift from Kim Crothers/bhgdigital scrapbooking. I loved everything about the page Kim did and just had to make a page like it with my sweet Gracie's face on it. I love the colors, the doodle frame and the flowers.

Paul now has the tummy bug = ( When will this sickness ever go away? They are saying that the flu has reached epidimic proportions for us locally. I was looking at the trees today and its such a relief to know that spring is on it's way! I can't wait to spend the first few days of it in sunny California. I am getting very excited about our trip. I need the getaway because life has been so crazy for me the last few months.

I had a great lunch yesterday with a very dear friend, Karen. She had moved away and has returned. We have so much in common that two hours flew by and we didn't nearly catch up on everything with each other. She is passionate about kids and giving them what they need to make it in this world. She is amazingly beautiful from the inside out and I am blessed to call her my friend. I can't wait until we can do lunch again.

This stuff is addicting!

My new treat is to sneak away to Starbucks for a Caramel Frappuccino. Yum! As my friend put it, it's like dessert in a cup. Well said, Anita! I even have my hubby hooked on this stuff. Life is too short...go to Starbucks!

I'm Back to Scrapping!

This is a digital Quick Page from Digi Scrappin 102. It was easy to just plop in the photos and Voila! A page about my hubby!
